Medical Expert Company vs. Insurance Company

Time Span: Less than 3 months

Monies Retrieved: 87% of the original debt

On June 17, I received a new case to investigate. The creditor was a healthcare litigation support company in need of recovering approximately $12,000 from a large medical insurance company. After some discussion with the person who submitted the claim, I was able to determine the persons who signed the original agreement and retrieve their contact information.

Many phone calls to the debtors were unanswered. All telephone messages went unreturned.  Since I had an e-mail address, I sent the debtor an e-mail introducing myself and ARMSCO’s position in representing the creditor.  With further detail, I conveyed that our interests were in resolving this matter amicably to the satisfaction of both parties.

That correspondence was left unanswered. Finally, I received an e-mail from the debtor’s attorney requesting that all further correspondence on this claim be directed to him.  Debtor’s Attorney further requested information about ARMSCO and specifically asked for my personal resume. When I attempted to respond to Debtor’s Attorney, he would not accept my phone calls, nor return messages. All correspondence on this claim was handled via e-mail only.

I responded to Debtor’s Attorney through e-mail and directed him to ARMSCO’s website for information on the company. In the interest of getting the claim resolved, I provided a my resume which reflects my professional status in the legal profession. Apparently, Debtor’s Attorney   was satisfied that his demands were met and communications were opened for resolution. I still marvel at strong-arm tactics in order to intimidate collection agents. I have nothing to hide, neither does ARMSCO.

After several e-mail exchanges, through Debtor’s Attorney, the debtor made an offer to settle.  The creditor was delighted to accept the settlement which was 87% of the original debt and allowed the case to stay out of court, thus avid fees and further costs.  Payment was received by ARMSCO almost 3 months to the day we received the claim.
